Eve's Perfect World

“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.”

I Samuel 15:23

Have you ever stopped and wondered why living in this big wonderful world is so hard? As we go through day after day it seems there is so much wrong and so little right contending against us. I have asked the question many times, is it really supposed to be this way? In the beginning, Adam and Eve’s world was without sin and good, but was it perfect like we are led to believe? Now I want to ask the million dollar question. Who in this world allowed the serpent (Satan) in the Garden to begin with? I have often tried to visualize what it would be like to know no sin and live in a sinless world just like Adam and Eve. Needless to say, it was exhausting and incomprehensible, even on a good day. To think of having no worries, problems, and needs seem like a little heaven in itself. Everything the two love birds needed to live happily and comfortably was thought of far in advance by the Creator Himself. It seemed like the perfect life for one to visualize. But there was an unforeseen problem lurking in the mist covered Garden of Eden. No, it wasn’t the serpent that had slipped in, as most would suspect. I suspect it was the created beings themselves that had the problem that only the Creator could identify. How could this be when the Creator declared His work was good? Yes, it was good, but was it perfect in every way like God? Could it be that Eve had a design flaw that would serve only the Creator’s purpose? Was Eve’s design flaw the fact that she was the weaker sex? Just what does that entail when we speak of a woman’s mental capabilities or for that matter a man’s mental capabilities? When the Bible story of Adam and Eve is examined we find that there are tantalizing props used to promote the thought and reasoning process in humans. For example, why would God tell Adam and Eve not to partake of the tree of knowledge of good and evil knowing they have never known or experienced evil? I can see the look on Adam’s face trying to figure out just what it is God is talking about when he hears the term evil being used for the first time in his life. Why would God use something that is delicious but deadly when they are used to eating all types of fruit in the first place? It is like telling a child, you can eat this fruit here, but you cannot eat the fruit over there. Why? Because I’m telling you now, it will kill you. Then we have the big question expression on Adam’s face again, perpetuating the question of what is death? Yes, God does tell them the consequences of partaking of the tree, but why is something placed in the Garden that could be deadly to them both to begin with? Why would they be tested on the basis of trust in God when they knew of nothing or no one else to trust? Why would they be tested in obedience when in fact, there had never been any reason to be insubordinate to the very One who breathed life into him. We assume there could only be love, adoration, loyalty and affection to the One who knows all things, sees all things, and is omnipresent. If in fact they both knew no sin, what was in them, or for that matter missing, which would erase all reasonable doubts concerning their Creator? As we begin to see, God is in the process of testing His creation with many different facets.

In today’s world of engineering and science, the technician’s products undergo many different processes to accumulate data on strength, endurance, character traits as well as any type of unforeseen design anomalies of the intended prototype. As is the practice of credible and unsurpassed craftsmanship of today, any discovered flaw and or structural failure is met with countless questions and demands as to why it failed in the first place. The only recourse is to redesign and remake the product only to face the testing procedure repeatedly until it passes all with high marks of acceptance.

Unlike many scientists, engineers and builders, God proceeds to test His human creation only once, but in His test, it is for life or death. Whether it passes or fails doesn’t seem to matter because the creation will have to live with the possibilities of undesirable and remorseful, consequences of their decisions. The way I perceive this scenario, if Adam and Eve were made in sinless perfection as their Creator, would it not stand to reason they would pass the most strenuous tests God would deem necessary to prove them? Were they in fact designed to fail? According to the Scriptures, all God did was to allow the most wicked, murderous, vile and deceitful creature of His very own creation to have his way with their impressionable, open minds and mentality. Up to this point, they had never experienced adversity of any type, for even the most vicious creature of today was docile and able to be handled. Who on earth could stand up to Satan when God rebukes His Angels not to contend with Satan? He is no match for them; in truth he is no match for anyone. With all these questions and many more to come, we must ask, is God really like that? I mean, does He care at all about His creation? Why would He allow the very thing He breathed the breath of life into be allowed to destroy itself with just making the wrong choice, unknowing the full weight of the consequences to be passed upon themselves, their children and all the earth? Were Adam and Eve victims of gross negligence or key players in the master blueprints in the future of humanity and life on earth? With these questions in place, we will begin to explore the many different attributes of God and what His intended purpose is for all human kind. No doubt, we really do not understand God as we think we do, but on the other hand, He does want us to learn of Him and to gain some understanding of His unusual, out-of-this-world ways, and thought processes. Needless to say, we can never understand God without His approval and help, for His ways are far above our ways and His thoughts, far out-weigh our thoughts. It is said, “the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom,” but it is His full intention that we love Him, the Creator, the grand and glorious Father of all living, the Ancient of days.

 Design Flaws by Design

“Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? (2)  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:  (3)  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. (4)  And the serpent said unto the woman, ye shall not surely die:  (5) For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. (6)  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. (7)  And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. Genesis 3:1-7 

As I look across the pages of the Holy Scripture in the book of Genesis in the Old Testament, I am intrigued to wonder what it was that motivated Eve to commit insubordination and trespass against God’s wishes and better judgment. We must keep in mind that God’s Word is the ultimate law that all men and women will be judged by it in the end times. Sometimes I feel that while living in Adam’s world, Eve might have possibly felt a little inferior and possibly intimidated by the attention and assignments handed down to Adam from the very Creator. No doubt, she felt like being the next in line to receive what was intended until the resources were exhausted or in her case, capped off, as it was when Eve stepped up in turn to receive whatever it was God intended for her. On the other hand, we would like to imagine that she was perfectly content with the status quo and her dependant lifestyle. I can picture an adult woman with a child-like, trusting, innocence sitting in the presence of an authority figure noticing every move and gesture, ever learning and processing thoughts of wonder and then gaining insight to the expression of one being partial towards the other. It didn’t have to be anything big or extraordinary but the slightest inclination of favoritism could be divulged from an expression on one’s face. As a parent can attest, children have an extra sensitivity when it comes to relationships. I have had very hard time accepting the human tendency of one not acting in favor over the other. But according to the Scripture, our Creator was and is still like this.

“…For there is no respect of persons with God.” Romans 2:11

One tends to crave the extra attention and adores the thrills of being the chosen one. In the eyes of the Creator, Adam, and Eve were merely children equipped with adult features possessing an empty hard drive with limited data. As it was, God in His infinite wisdom created two people, first Adam, and then Eve from Adam’s side. As intended in the original creation of all living things, Eve’s original purpose in life was to be a help-mate for Adam.

Somewhere along the line, I feel Eve could have been a little disturbed when the reality of being second all the time was expected as the normal attitude from both of her peers, or was this perceived as normal for her? After all, after a while, it’s got to be hard living in a perfect paradise where one cannot find anything wrong with their environment or themselves. I cannot imagine such a tranquil environment because where ever man ventures, trouble soon follows. Even from the beginning, the two were not intended to be equal, as some would dare to argue. If this were true, I feel the physical attributes would have been different. No doubt, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the succession of events which manifested creation for the law of domination. Eve was placed in creation to answer to her husband and to God for a reason. There may have been times when they both seemed to be equal, but God always sought Adam for explanations and performance. To this very day, God still requires the man to present himself and account for the marriage and the home for which he is totally responsible to God. Maybe, this was the catalyst to spark Eve’s insubordinate disposition that finally culminated. This has been the age old argument of feminists that women are equal to men and spend their lives proving such. Obviously, all could see there was God, and then there was the perfect environment for habitation and a food supply. [At that particular time, I feel the animal kingdom was merely for the purpose of entertainment. It was later that it proved to be a food and clothing source. I personally believe Adam and Eve were vegetarians.] Then there was Adam, and last but not least, there was Eve. There is no doubt in my mind that God coached Adam to explain to Eve in loving manners and great detail of God’s intentions for her very existence. Did she completely accept the idea without question or inhibitions? Only God would know their hearts and minds. However, at this time, she had no inclinations to a better way of life and therefore, accepted things as they were. Isn’t it foolish to wonder and dream for something that doesn’t exist? I can picture in my mind Eve wondering to herself during her quiet time and quite possibly, just in sight of  but yet a distance to the Garden, is this all that life has to offer me or did she just let her mind wander at will in blissful contentment? We would not dare to find ourselves in this predicament, would we? But you might say; I don’t believe Eve would ever doubt the intentions of her Creator while living and experiencing the wonder and beauty of her perfect world. While Eve pondered every event of her life, I cannot help but wonder if she wished and hoped for something more of what life had to offer, maybe a child would fill that need. No matter how much we accumulate or assimilate, there is that need to seek more, physically, mentally, and or spiritually; I think that it one of those characteristics that is within our DNA. No matter how we approach this nuisance of character, concupiscence or incontinence, these will leach to the surface in time. To think like this is basic human nature. It is called curiosity, ambition, and the seed of pride which at this early stage had not an opportunity presented, as of yet.

We all are, more or less, still the same, curious of our environment and what the world has to offer. I’m sure they both could see that the world in which they lived was great with wonders and expanse to be explored with every approaching sunrise. Until something drastic crossed Eve’s path, I feel that she resided in herself to be content and go along with the intentions of her Creator and her companion of design, Adam. After all, no doubt she knew she had it made being the only female in the world with limited physical abilities, which at this time didn’t demand the assistance of brawn and power as to give her confidence of her comfort and security. In Eve’s world, she wasn’t expected to perform just to prove a point. God intentionally surrounded Eve with evidence that there was no need to feel intimidated or insecure as long as He or Adam was within her sight. God made them both with no inhibitions and a mindset of complete safety and security in their capsule environment; they could go about life with no worries to apprehend their minds. What bliss? Why would anyone in their right mind want to change any of this? No doubt, in the heart and mind of Eve, she longed for a better, more equal standing in their little world. There was no one to compete with but her husband and God; however, that was enough competition to plant the seed of discontent. What was it that prompted Eve to question God? What more was there to be had or gained? Was it to be equal to God, to have infinite knowledge of all things, ultimate power? I feel that we do not have to look very far to see this attribute still playing itself out in every human being today.

You might be thinking, but Adam and Eve were perfect and didn’t harbor these promiscuous or evil attributes. Contrary to what we want to believe, I feel that these and other detrimental character flaws were always there, hidden in some form of dormancy similar to a cancer cell embedded in the body awaiting a catalyst or trigger of some sort. In Eve’s case, all it would take was the simple introduction of the seed of doubt and the influx of knowledgeable error from an outside source, or as it was, a spoken word from the deceiver himself. {The perfect world I picture in my mind is a world without Satan to hinder us in life. We are promised by God that day will soon come.} All was needed was a trigger to set things into motion. The time would come when she and Adam would make the choice that would transpire evil into every generation from that day forward. Yes, I stated, make the choice; life is all about free choice, but most assuredly void of free-will. There is a definite difference of the two. I have taken great pains to cover the notion of free-will in other writings with the conclusion that there cannot coexist free-will based on the knowledge that we have a sovereign, providential God in control of everything that is created. Not unless, you are one of those that do not believe in a higher power, much less a higher power interacting and being in control of matters of life. If in fact this be the case, then you possess free-will on the basis that you do not believe in Almighty God. In earlier writings, I have stated that God doesn’t set things in motion and walk away for them to find their own destiny as the Deist doctrine dictates. No, in fact, God interacts and intervenes at His discretion all along the way in everything that exists. I can say that from personal experience. If you insist on possessing free-will, it will have to be from a very limited supply. To a lot of individuals, no doubt, it seems logical enough to assume the opposite when we can come and go as we please on a daily basis. This is the fallacy that I discovered that plagued my mind long ago on the basis of my own personal life. I discovered through living that there was Someone, unseen and at one time unknown to me that was directing every thing about me with me being unawares. This is most unlike Eve’s situation where she knew from the beginning that there was a higher power in control of her life because she had the privilege to walk daily with the Creator of the universe, Jesus, the beloved Son of God.

“And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:…” Ephesians 3:9-11

 You might be thinking here that if Eve wasn't acting on her own volition but following someone else’s lead that she cannot be held responsible for her actions which incurred sin and trespass against a Holy Creator. If so, we need to examine this thought a bit more so as not to miss the point. As I stated, Eve was given the choice to choose between right and wrong. She had all the facts set before her previously by God Himself. When the deceiver came along, he presented another way of thinking, outside the box thinking which was nothing short of a distortion of the truth. However, these lies divulged from Satan had an appeal to the mind and the flesh thus, the controlled atmosphere was initiated. The situation was controlled and the choices were presented by outside sources, one good and one evil, but at this time, it was to Eve that was presented the choice. I believe that the seed bed for all sin was present in Adam and Eve but it lacked key ingredients. Satan was the agent who provided these ingredients. Therefore, as I have concluded before, there is no such thing as free-will because within the governing limitations or governing dynamics of choices, one will only proceed on the pre-determined path as laid out in the master plans of the Creator. She was responsible for her actions and therefore responsible for her trespasses before a Holy God. In one sense, she was led through a procession of turns and twists of events to an arrived position where she pressed by her own thoughts and desires. Eve could have rejected Satan’s strategy. She could have just as easily jumped up, thrown dirt at Satan and ran to Adam. But, she didn't. Instead, she sat and listened and absorbed every bit of information as the gospel from the deceiver himself. It makes me wonder if Eve had a different mentality or mental aptitude from Adam which led to the inability to discern right from wrong. Was this a flaw in her design, or was it by design to be weak and in a sense gullible as to lack the ability to resist such irresistible desires of the flesh? What was it that Eve so desired that she was willing to listen to Satan? It is also a very strange thing that Satan presented himself to Eve instead of Adam. Satan is a cunning liar and a murderer from the beginning, God said so. There is no doubt that Satan, a master tactician and well versed in the ways of the Kingdom of God, watched the two people from a distance and observed the order of creation. Satan isn't stupid or naïve. All along he was devising a way for God’s creation to fail most miserably. Satan advanced towards what seemed to him as the weaker subject in which to divulge his lies and blasphemies against God. Something transpired that fateful day in which Eve listened intently and began to believe the father of lies. Eve began to follow the bread crumb trail that Satan always uses to seduce his victims.

Personally, I don’t believe that it was a matter of mentality but rather, a matter of position that launched Eve to think intently concerning all the options presented to her. I believe that Adam and Eve were compatible in every area of their lives. However, we must take into account that God the Creator was aware of each of these incidents and knew of Satan’s plans. But, God in His infinite wisdom allowed these things to transpire with no interference on His behalf. This was going to be the litmus test of the human race.

I have felt for some time that God originally made both man and woman with design flaws. The most obvious reason being that if God the Creator had made them perfect in every way, then at some point, God could have been comfortable walking off and allowing them to pursue the perfect life. If this being the case of perfection, then Adam and Eve would have no further need for a Provider in their presence. Indeed, this would be the free-will scenario at its best. However, as we can see, this was not the case. God intended from the beginning to be and to continue to be in the interaction of His creation.

God made man in His likeness for the purpose of worship. God desires to be worshipped by His creation. All of creation is obedient with the exception being man and woman. This alone, is our sole purpose in life, to worship our creator. No doubt it seems that God went way out of His way to achieve this. He could have just as easily made man to worship Him as His Holy Angels do each day, but God doesn’t care for the mechanics of worship or worship from robots. His desire is for man to see his need for redemption and come to Him freely and ask for forgiveness of sins because of the guilt and shame that sin produces in his life. Man has to realize this fact and understand that he needs a way of escape from this burden of failure and the demise of one’s very soul. God through His infinite wisdom achieved this goal by using Eve as the weaker sex to culminate the failure of a human race. It wasn’t so much that it was Eve’s fault or Adam’s fault, but by design of God that man should fail the litmus test of trust, loyalty, and obedience to their very Creator. God intentions were that man should forever stand in need to his Creator for his existence. I stand amazed that through this complicated yet calculated avenue of demise of fallen man, God provides a way for escape from sins, trespasses and guilt through the introduction of His very Son, Jesus Christ.

“Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.”

I Peter 1: 13 - 21

For me, it is a most amazing thought to arrive at the conclusion that God, creator of all things, longs for and desires fellowship with His crowning achievement, mankind. God desires that we continually see the need of His injection into our daily lives. With the designed inability to achieve perfection, man will always find himself in need.

Coming to Terms with Tragic Mistakes

Life goes on, or so they say. No doubt, Eve of Genesis would prove this statement to be true.But how an individual is to cope is quite another matter; it is a matter of the heart. It is a matter of fact that no one ever considers the repercussions that will arise from the fallout of regrettable events. Have you ever been thrown out of your own home? Have you ever been forced to wander out to another place just because you did something someone else didn't approve of? This is exactly what happened to Adam and Eve when God finished with them in the Garden of Eden. You might be wondering and asking the question, did God forsake them all together? The answer to this question is no. There is no question as to whether God was disappointed with them both. After all, He gave them the very best of creation and provided everything they would need to survive. God really did care for them and He still made provision for them even after the fall of woman and man, in that precise order. Up until that point in their lives, according to our standards, Adam and Eve had it pretty well made. But things changed drastically when Eve asserted her unauthorized authority over the man. I believe that she felt she was somewhat on equal ground in a mental and spiritual sense which made her competitive. Have we ever witnessed when a man and a woman wasn't competitive? Was that such a bad thing? Evidently, it was a tragic mistake with God the Creator of all living things. Little do we realize, when we try to change the order that God established, things begin gravitating towards disaster as that is open blatant sin.

The evidence is in and there is no doubt that Eve was presented with a choice, but what if she had made the right choice but according to whose plan? I am convinced that making the right choice according to our hindsight but in God’s manner of thinking, she would have made a worse choice. Allow me to clarify this statement. If she had made the choice to obey God’s commands, would there be a future need of redemption? Would there be a need to have a Daysman as described in the book of Job. The Daysman is a go-between for God and man in order to reconcile their differences. I believe that after studying all the evidence presented by the Bible, if Eve could have possibly made the wrong choice, God’s Holy Son would have no purpose to appear to save mankind from the wrath of God. To reject the input of a diabolical creature such as the devil and as convincing as he was, would not have been according to the master plan of Almighty God of the ages. Again, let me make myself clear on this point. There are times when we are presented choices, but either way, the choice will lead thru a procession of events following a preset course. By applying pressure to the senses, we are apt to make choices we would not otherwise make. Eve experienced this application from Satan and with drastic results according to our process of thinking. God’s Word wasn’t enough to thwart Eve from going in the wrong direction, but Satan’s influence was enough to convince Eve something was mysterious and intriguing with the warning from God the Father. Mistrust became the order of the day and curiosity laid out the course. All events transpired perfectly and according to God’s master plan which set the stage to introduce the Beloved, Son of God. There is now no doubt in my mind that for all intended purposes, Eve passed the test of the ages in order for the perfect world to be presented in ages to come. Even so, come LORD JESUS.
